Please sign me up. The details have not changed. I will use 3 Alpha
systems running VMS V8.2. I will be eager to test bind 9, ipsec, ssh=
,
and NTP. No IPV6 here.

Signed up - looking forward to native IPv6 on the Alpha box - thanks!

A couple of posts in the history mention the NFS client emulating an
ODS-5 disk rather than ODS-2 - will that be supported in this release?
(Alternatively, has anyone had any luck using the TCP/IP NFS client,
which does have such support, with MultiNet?)

Regards,

Steve,

Re: IPV6 - while a bit slow ramping up in NA (not so in Asia), it is
starting to really take off. See the following recent articles.

Check out:
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/community/columns/cableguy/cg0905.mspx
The Next Generation TCP/IP stack in Windows Vista and Windows Server
"Longhorn" is a complete redesign of TCP/IP functionality for both
Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) and Internet Protocol version 6
(IPv6) that meets the connectivity and performance needs of today's
varied networking environments and technologies."

Check out the following recent articles on IPV6 in CIO Magazine:

http://www.cio.com/archive/100106/feature_IPV6.html (October, 2006)
"Outside the United States, the transition to IPv6 is well under way.
China, Japan and Korea have all made moving to IPv6 a national priority,
as has the European Union. China, in particular, is building a new
Internet based entirely on IPv6 that it hopes will allow it to become
the world's leader in all things Internet (see "China Builds a Better
Internet").

http://www.cio.com/archive/071506/china.html (July 2006)
"Meanwhile, out of sight, in research labs throughout China, engineers
are busy working on another project that the Chinese government plans to
unveil at the Olympics: China's Next Generation Internet (CNGI), a
faster, more secure, more mobile version of the current one. And unlike
the Friendlies and the stadiums, which the world will forget as soon as
the games end, CNGI's impact will be felt for decades."

http://tinyurl.com/trqs2 Sept 2006 - "Be prepared -- IPv6 is coming
sooner than you think"

Also, check out:
http://www.gcn.com/print/25_24/41637-1.html (US Govt)

So, while the NA market is a bit behind right now in IPV6, you can bet
that those dealing with Asia are going to start taking note of the huge
investments they are putting in place.

Re: Multinet V5.2 and IPV6

Another article on IPV6 - this time from Business Week discussing what
US Govt is up to-
http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/06_45/b4008080.htm?chan=sea
rch (November 6, 2006)

While there is going to be trade-off's and many may use dual stack to
phase in certain aspects, here is an interesting quote from the above
article:

"That's where the buying power of the U.S. government comes in. Federal
purchasing officials have already said they plan to require all civilian
and defense agencies to upgrade their key network equipment -- routers,
computer servers, switches, and such -- to IPv6 within 20 months. By
next spring, the General Services Administration (GSA) plans to award
two of the largest government contracts ever, totaling $125 billion, to
overhaul the government's phone systems and IT infrastructure. The GSA
also designates a record-breaking $25 billion in contracts for small or
minority businesses. "These are big numbers even when you look across
the federal government," says James A. Williams, who runs GSA's Federal
Acquisition Service."

RFID tags, perhaps combined with GPS in some cases, on any items that
need tracking (food, farm animals, containers, rail cars) are also
likely to drive this requirement as well - especially those items that
cross international borders.
