FTP OF A ZIP FILE
(too old to reply)

I am running: Process Software MultiNet V5.0 Rev A, AlphaServer ES40,
OpenVMS AXP V7.1-2 with no patches at one of my client sites.

I am trying to download a .ZIP file from my company's FTP server by
doing: MGET WEEKLY*.ZIP. I receive an error of "<550 Permission
denied" right after doing the NLST WEEKLY*.ZIP.. If I do just a GET,
I receive the same error. This client is external to my company
network.

I know that this could be a permission issue, but the permissions on my
FTP server is wide open (all my clients use the same Username/Password
to access the FTP server). I also found that this problem can also be
caused by a firewall with a "no ftp write" permission set.

I have other clients running different version of Multinet and OpenVMS
and they do not have this problem.

My client swears that the problem is on my side, however I feel that it
is a problem at their end.

Can anyone shed some light on this for me???

Any help would be appreciated,

You could attempt to get past this by invoking PASV, which reverses the
GETS and PUTS so that your mget would translate to telling the FTP
server to do a PUT.

Sounds like there's a security filter trying to prevent downloads of
.ZIP files. If you're the only one having this problem, talk to your
system manager (admin) and network security people.

Not allowing .ZIP in email is quite common these days, blocking it
via other paths is not surprising.
